The Well Manicured Man (John Neville) is one of the leaders of the secretive group called the Syndicate, or Consortium. He is an associate of the Cigarette-Smoking Man and Mulder's dead father. He first came to
Scully in the 3rd season episode "The Blessing Way", telling her how her life was in danger, and that she would be killed. In the same episode, he told
Mulder and Scully about how the Nazis were given refuge in America in exchange for their scientific knowledge. He had his men kill Victor Klemper, a former Nazi associate. In the 4th season episode "Terma", he became angry at the
Cigarette-Smoking Man for letting his personal doctor be murdered.
The Well Manicured Man appeared in the 5th season episode "Patient X", confronting
Alex Krycek. His group discovered Marita Covarrubias, who was almost dead after being attacked by the "black oil". He gets a vaccine from Alex Krycek, but it doesn't work. In the X-Files movie, The Well Manicured Man explained an elaborate conspiracy to Mulder, in which ancient aliens buried in the earth were starting to mutate and turn on the humans. He gave Mulder a cure for the black oil to give to Scully. After returning to his car, the Well Manicured Man was the victim of a sudden explosion.
