Let's Untwist the Facts...

In 1920 the Palestine Mandate was bestowed on the British by the League of Nations. In 1922 the League of Nations approved Mandated Palestine (see map at right) as the homeland of the Jews.

At this time there was no State of Jordan. England invented "TransJordan" in 1923 when she inserted Abdullah from Arabia (the late king Hussein's grandfather) into the part of Palestine east of the Jordan river. (Hence, an Arab "Palestinian" entity was created - the basis of the Arab "Palestinian" country, the "Kingdom of Jordan", which became independent in 1946. This is in fact the "Palestinian" state that Arafat wishes to duplicate within the borders of Israel).

This partition was not in line with the mandate given Britain by the League of Nations but, among other British schemes, rather a show of Britain's gratitude to Abdullah for his "support" during the 1st world war.

Question: If there was "Palestinian" nation in this period of history, why would the world body of the League of Nations even consider this land for the Jewish homeland?

Answer: There was no "Palestinian" nation.

Historian Arnold Toynbee observed in 1918 that the "desolate" "land" which lies east of the Jordan stream" (river), was capable of supporting a large population if irrigated and cultivated scientifically. ... The Zionists (Jews) have as much right to this no-mans land as the .Arabs, or more. "From Time Immemorial" by Joan Peters.

FACT: According to the "University Encyclopedia" published in1902, edited by the Chancellor of New York University "Henry M. Mac Cracken" - the population of the walled city of east Jersusalem in 1900 was 40,000. Of these:

A. 20,000 were Arabs - 8250 Christian Arabs, 11,750 Moslem Arabs

B. 20,000 were Jews
