   The Historical borders of Israel pre 1923
The map below shows in blue, the land held by the Jewish settlement at the time the Arab armies attacked in 1948, following their rejection of United Nations resolution 181.

The map on the right shows "Palestine" as it was until 1923 when the British and French carved it up, inventing what is now called "the Kingdom of Jordon."

  

Note in the map below, the Golan Heights went from Turkish hands, to British, and then French. The Golan Heights were never part of Syria. The Golan Heights were part of Palestine.
