Sex,
Lies
and
Other Mistakes
Did you know that there are some of
sordid stories about
sex in the
bible? Oh, yes. If you think that the
bible is full only sweetness and goodness and
light, you are wrong, my friend.
The bible tells the truth about sin.
It is our reality
check.

If you want to read about incest, you will find
it in the bible. You don't believe
me? After Lot and his daughters escaped the
destruction of Sodom, they all hid in a cave, Lot got
stinking drunk and they all had sex. Genesis 19.
If you want to read about voyeurism, you will find it in
the bible. If you want to read about homosexuality, you will
find it in the bible. If you want to read about rape, it is
in the bible.
People today think that they are so liberated. In regards
to sex, they think that their modern philosophy is something
new. No, it is not new, it is just new to them.
Ecclesiates 1: 9 The thing
that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which
is done is that which shall be done: and there is no
new thing under the sun.
There is nothing new under the sun. Sexual behavior is
the same now as it has always been.
So, what does
sex
have to do with
eternal
life?
Sex is a good thing, if it is used according to God's
will and purpose in our lives. There is a whole book in the
bible about love and the sexual desire of a man for a woman.
It is called the Song of Songs or Song of Solomon. Sex
within marriage is good. "...marriage
is honorable...and the bed undefiled." Hebrews 13: 4.
The problem is that there is so much sexual sin in the world
that people don't know the difference between right and
wrong anymore. They accept sin as normal behavior. People
have no idea that what they are doing is wrong. Do not be
deceived, sexual sin is not pleasing to God.
If you are engaging in certain sexual
acts, you will not inherit eternal
life!
1 Thessalonians 4: 3 For
this is the will of God... that you should
abstain from fornication... For God hath not
called us unto uncleanliness, but unto holiness.
Fornication?
What the heck is
that?
It is mentioned over and over and over again in
the bible.
Fornication is unclean, unrighteous, and wicked, and if
you are committing fornication, then you are compared to
murderers, and haters of God! Yes, it is that
serious.
Romans 1: 28 -32 And even
as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge,
God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those
things which are not convenient; Being filled with all
unrighteousness,
fornication,
wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy,
murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud,
boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to
parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers,
without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who
knowing the judgment of God, that they which
commit such
things are worthy of
death...
Wow, it is
that
serious! So serious that if you commit it, you are
worthy of death.
So, what is
fornication? Fornication is illicit, unlawful,
pre-marital, or extra-marital sex. It is also indulging in
unlawful lust of either sex. It comes from the Greek words
"pornia" and
"porneuo"
which of course is the root word of the word
pornography.
Fornication is unlawful
sex or unlawful lust.
What constitutes unlawful? Unmarried by law. If you
are engaging in sexual relations with a person with whom you
are not married, then you are committing fornication.
If you are lusting after someone with whom you are not
married, or looking at pornography, then you are
committing fornication.
So you think that is nonsense? You think that having sex
with someone to whom you are not married is acceptable
behavior. After all, it is normal in today's society. I
won't argue with that. In today's
society, that is the norm.
You are perfectly
normal! However, if you are interested in what the
bible says, and you want to receive eternal life, then you
need to know this: There is nothing new under the sun.
Fornication was a sin 4,000 years ago, it was a sin 3,000
years ago, it was a sin 2,000 years ago, and it is a sin
now.
The bible tells us over and over and over again not to be
deceived into thinking that fornication is okay. Christians
were told over and over and over again to abstain from
fornication, Acts 15: 2,
1 Thessalonians 4: 3. We are
told that the purpose for our body is not for fornication,
1 Corinthians 6: 13. We are
told to avoid fornication, 1
Corininthians 7: 2. Fornication is a work of the
flesh (non-spiritual) Ephesians 5:
19. And finally, we are told that
fornicators will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God,
1 Corinthians 6: 9, Ephesians 5:
19-21.
That is what the bible says! Having unmarried sex, or
unmarried lust (porneo, porn) will prevent you from entering
the Kingdom.
What if a person is a Christian?
Every one of those scriptures was
written to Christians!
...to
Christian churches! They were told not to be
deceived into thinking that sexual sin is okay.
Roman 6: 7 Be not
deceived: God is not mocked...
Another sexual sin is
adultery.
From the Ten Commandments, number seven says...
Thou shalt not commit
adultery. Exodus 20: 14.
Did you know that the Ten Commandments is the only
document that was ever written by God's own hand? The Ten
Commandments were so important that God told his people to
post them on the walls of their homes. Adultery is so
serious that it made into the "big ten." Under the Old Covenant it was punishable by death!
What is adultery? It
is breaking marital vows.
Hebrews 13: 4 Marriage is
honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers
and adulterers God will judge.
Jesus' teaching on adultery was so severe that he said
that most people will not accept it.
Get ready for this
one.
Matthew 5: 32 ...and
whosoever shall marry her that is divorced
committeth adultery.
Mark 10: 11-12 And he saith unto
them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry
another, committeth adultery against her. And
if a woman shall put away her husband and be married to
another, she committeth adultery.
What Jesus is talking about here is divorce and
remarriage.
He said that not everyone will accept this this teaching.
I guess not! Divorce and multiple marriages are very common.
Now, some people believe that if they get a divorce because
their spouse "cheated" on them, or lusted after someone else
(porneo), then the aggrieved partner is free
to remarry.
Matthew 5: 32 But I say
unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife,
saving (except
for) for the cause of
fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and
whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth
adultery.
So, some churches teach that if your spouse has sex with or lusts after someone
other than you, then you are free to remarry (Matthew 5:
32). They assert that you would not be committing adultery if you married
someone else. But is this really true? The bible says that Joseph considered DIVORCING Mary because she was with child. However, they were not even married yet. Rather, they were engaged or betrothed. So, in biblical times, an engagement or betrothal was an agreement to marry and if one of the parties committed fornication during that engagement, then the agrieved party could DIVORCE. Therefore, some churches teach that Matthew 5:32 should not be used as an excuse for a christian to remarry. They proclaim that Jesus' words (in Mark 10:11-12) are still true - namely that if you divorce and then re-marry, you are committing adultery! The exception to the rule is that if you are ENGAGED or BETROTHED (as Mary and Joseph were) and your partner commits fornication, then you are free to end that engagment and marry someone else. So, can a christian remarry after divorce? This subject requires further research and because this is such a hard teaching, I would encourage you to do an in-depth bible sudy on the subject. (I plan to include a study on this website at a later date.)
What does the bible say will happen to someone who
commits adultery?
It says they are an enemy of
God, James 4: 4.
It also says that if you commit adultery, you will
not inherit the Kingdom of
God, Ephesians 5: 19-21.
Other sexual sins include beastiality, homosexuality,
prostitution, and whoremongering.
Let's move on to
lies. How bad can an
itty- bitty lie be? After all, most people lie. Psalm 116:
11 ... all men are liars. My
husband and I were friends with a married couple for a few
years. At least for a time, we considered them friends.
After about two years into the friendship, we were made
aware that many things that they had told us over the years
were untrue. We tried to overlook it, but they continued to
tell lies. Most were little, white lies. Although these
little lies had no serious ramifications in our lives, it
eroded our friendship because we lost respect and trust for
them both. I don't think that I have to convince you that it
is impossible to have a good relationship with someone who
lies to you. All trust is lost.
What does the bible say
about liars?
Jesus said that if you lie, Satan is your father because
Satan is the father of all lies.
John 8: 44 Ye are of
your father, the devil... for he is a
liar
and the father of it.
ALL liars will be cast into the lake of fire!
Revelations 21: 8 ...and
all
liars shall have their part in the lake which
burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second
death.
If you do some searching on your own, you will find out
that in the bible sex. lies,
and other mistakes include: fornication, adultery,
homosexuality, lies, false testimony, false pride (I am
better than you), drunkeness, anger without cause, envy,
strife, jealousy, lust, backbiting, murder, stealing, using
the Lords name in vain, emulations (keeping up with the
Joneses, one-upmanship), gluttony, greed, coveting your
neighbor's stuff... All of these are considered "works of
darkness."
If you really want eternal life, then consider what Jesus
said...
John 3: 19-20 And this is
the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and
men loved darkness rather than the light, because their
deeds were evil. For everyone that doeth evil
hateth the light...
Romans 13: 12 ...let us
therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let
us put on the armour of light.
It is time for us to change our behavior.
Acts 3: 19
Repent
ye therefore, and be converted,
that your sins may be blotted out...
