| Creating a "wooden" drop ceiling: 1. Take out the acoustic tiles and paint the crossbars whatever color you wish. 2. A material called luan can be purchased at any home improvement store. It is a very thin wood. (Try looking by the peg board.) 3. Cut the luan to the size of the acoustic tiles. Keep in mind that the spaces around the edges are probably not all the same size unless by some miracle your walls are perfectly plumb and level and all that good stuff. To do it right, you should probably measure each one of those, although you do have some leeway due to overlap on the crossbars. 4. You could stain it or even paint it if you want. 5. Pop the new boards in the holes where the acustic tiles used to be. |
