OUR FINEST HOUR

CORAL SEA: In May 1942 the rampant Japanese tried to isolate Australia by seizing Port
Moresby and other Pacific outposts, but the invasion force was intercepted by a joint
US-Australian fleet. Aircraft carriers on both sides were sunk and damaged, the Japanese
withdrawing in a vital strategic victory for the Allies.

LEST WE FORGET

THE NAVY HYMN - Eternal Father

Eternal Father, strong to save
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep:
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea.

Lord, guard and guide the men who fly
Through the great spaces in the sky,
Be with them always in the air,
In dark'ning storms or sunlight fair :
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea.

O Holy Spirit, who did'st brood
Upon the waters dark and rude,
And bid their angry tumult cease
And give, for wild confusion peace:
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea.
