Fly
A young eagle soared upon the currents
Heart crying out in joy as she explored the open expanse
Wings trembling as she struggled to climb higher
Knowing there was another level she could not reach
Storms blew in, making once strong wings falter
Buffeting the tiny eagle to the hard ground
Dazed, hurt and confused she turned fearful eyes upward
The open sky now filled with dark shadows,
Making her cringe against the cold earth
Forgotten was the joy of wind through her feathers
The freedom felt when the currents took her new places
All that remained was the feeling of fear and betrayal
How could she ever hope to soar once more?
Resigned to a grounded existence she lived
Part of her soul weeping over the loss of freedom
Forcing that piece to the side she continued
Seemingly content at her earthbound existence
A man approached the eagle in her wanderings
His kind words igniting a thirst she had forgotten existed
Wings trembled in need, feeling the fear that now caged her soul
The man saw the fear, opening arms to her
He whispers of joys she’d forgotten
His touch ever calm, ever present, soothing her soul
Taking her in his hands, he holds her out
Breeze ruffling feathers, wings half open she turns to watch his eyes
Seeing the love echoing deep in his soul, she unfurls completely
The fear still there but swiftly receding under his gaze
The young one hears a soft whispered command…
“Fly my slave”
Wings quivering, she takes to the air
Memories washing over her senses
The joy submission brings, the complete freedom
Strong currents lifting her ever higher as she soars once more
All because one man cared, opening his heart
Breathing into her a new life
Urging her onwards to those heights denied in the past
His slave flies, knowing he is with her always
Thank you is not enough Sir, but tis all your girl has to offer
Thank you for helping yours find her wings and soar once more
