Definitions:
~Switch - basic definition and we will define this more as we go is someone who switches between Top and Bottom roles, either from scene to scene or within a scene
~Top - for this purpose a Top will refer to an individual that takes a Dominate role. That can be a Dom(mie), Mistress, Goddess, Lady, Master, Lord, Sire, Sadist, Top or what ever the individual may refer to their self as
~Bottom - to keep things simple also and from having to be so specific and state all roles a bottom in this discussion will refer to an individual whom takes a submissive roll
~D/s which by the way stands for Dominance/submission, BDSM is the B&D stands for Bondage and Discipline while S&M stands for Sadism and Masochism.
~Vanilla is a term used by individuals in the BDSM Lifestyle it means sex without control, submission, SM or a fetish role.
Intro - What is a switch
~The BDSM/D/s community sometimes can be very open and at others they are sometimes very closed to what they see out of the expectable norm. There are several types of Tops and bottoms. Then you have those whom enjoy switching
~ The D/s-BDSM community however you will find some that look down on those who switch. A common belief is they should make up your mind on rather they want to be a Top or bottom.
~Our scene is supposed to be accepting of all kinks. To me all should be able to freely express who they are and if it they want to switch great, have fun!
~The easiest way to see a Switch is one of three ways. A Top Switch (subs but switches to a Top), a bottom switch (Is a Top but switches to a bottom) and a split Switch (no set Top or bottom role). Majority of Switches fall into the first two roles. The switch will have a primary role be it Top or bottom and a secondary one that is opposite.
~ Switches are like anyone else in the lifestyle they have strong belief's, feelings, hopes, desires and dreams, just like everyone else.
~A lot of times you will see that a switches will have a primary mate that they are either Top or bottom to. Most of their time is spent with the primary individual and then they switch as the secondary role. Some will be equal it will very for each person.
~Some will state that people whom switch don’t understand BDSM - however it can be stated that they have a better understanding because they are familiar with and have experience with both sides.
~A switch will not be in a scene as a bottom and then suddenly decide that they are going to be Top. No mater what this is Topping from the bottom. A switch will only be a the role that is decided upon prior to the scene and maintains that role through out.
