The department of cardiology is a young department, which branched off from National Medical Institute and II department of internal medicine of National medical university of Mongolia in 1992. Firstly department consists of 6 lecturers such as senior lecturer Z. Erdenetsogt with the head of department A. Ulziikhutag (doctor of science).

The purpose:
To prepare the doctors and professionals, who will diagnose, treat and demonstrate the ability of practical work and tendency in a professional level, connecting to population’s health status, morbidity and policy of medical care.

Goals:

  1. To improve and advance educational training
  2. On the basis of present achievement of cardiology, instructions given from WHO, research and experiment of home country researchers to improve of cardiology science
  3. To strengthen the material base of educational training, research and medical service work
  4. To train high qualified specialists
    Today in the department of cardiology work 7 lecturers, 3 of them have academic degrees, 3 have master’s degree. All lecturers acquired appropriate knowledge of English and all of them are able to use the professional textbooks and manuals. In the sphere of plan to develop cardiology department besides upgrading professional and language ability we work with the aim to reach the level of other foreign countries’ cardiology departments.
    Since in 1992 at our department was set the postgraduate training, following number of doctors were involved in:
    PhD training - 3
    Masters’ training - 8
    Residents’ training - 18
    Disciple training -23
    2 times was held professional cardiology course.

Projects
For the period of 10 years the department if Cardiology had worked on 5 projects.

  1. The hemodynamic changes of arterial hypertension disease
  2. The clinical specific characters of myocardial infarction
  3. The pathogenetical and pathomorphological peculiarities of heart chronic ischemic cardiosclerosis.
  4. Heart glycoside- life rhythm
  5. The specific character of heart muscle impulse transmission
    Now we work on “Investigating central hemodynamic of arterial hypertension by vascular Doppler echosonography”.

Publications
The lecturers of the department wrote 12 textbooks, 3 methodologies and manuals, 57 thesis, totally over 100 scientific papers and articles were published.
