Diet Advice for Transsexuals
Obviously mainly Transgendered people take female hormones in order to help feminise their bodies, but what many people don't realise is that there are many simple and natural ways in which they can help to enhance the effects of the hormones and help to feminise themselves, the aim of this little corner of the website is to share the few tips I have managed to pick up, but if you know any others then please let me know and I will add them to the site. Soya Firstly these methods are really just to help to enhance prescribed hormones, not to replace them, though obviously they will be of some help to all whether you take the pills or not! The first tip I have is to change to a diet that is high in Soya, why soya I hear you call, well the main reason is that Soya is very rich in Phytoestrogens, which is a naturally occuring female hormone, by switching to Soya milk and Soya based food, you will gradually and gently increase your hormone levels. Other food rich in Phytoestrogens Phytoestrogens is also found in Soy products, grains, legumes, and a variety of vegetables. Evening Primrose Oil This is especially useful to any ts taking hormones, as it will help to enhance the effects of the 'mones, it won't do anything on its own, but it will help you get the most out of the pills you take. Vitamin C Be careful when taking Vitamin C, though a healthy dose achieved through eating plenty of fruit is not a problem, if you overdose on Vitamin C due to vitamin supplements, you can reduce the effectiveness of the hormones, because Vitamin C actually flushes Oestrogen out of the body, so beware!!! Milk Thistle Milk Thistle is very good for your liver in any case, it helps liver function and so the benificial effects for a ts on hormones is plain to see. A Recipe for Hormone Rich Bread This is a Recipe I found for HRT bread, it is very very rich in natural Oestrogens, called Phytoestrogens. It obviously is not a substitute for Hormones but is a very good compliment to them and if you are not on hormones, well it may help! HRT Bread (makes 2) 4oz/100g soya flour 4oz/100g wholewheat flour 4oz/100g porridge oats 4oz/100g linseeds 2oz/50g sunflower seeds 2oz/50g pumpkin seeds 2oz/50g sesame seeds 4oz/100g flaked almonds 2 pieces stem ginger (chopped) 8oz/200g raisins Approx 3/4 litre of soya milk 1tbs malt extract 1/2tsp nutmeg 1/2tsp cinnamon 1/2tsp ground ginger Put the dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl and mix. Add the soya milk and the malt extract. Mix well and leave to soak for about 30mins, If its too stiff then add a little extra soya milk Spoon into a lined loaf tin. Bake at gas mark 5/190 C for about one and a half hours. Turn out and leave to cool. A couple of slices a day will be sufficient to enhance your hormone tablets. VERY IMPORTANT I am not a medical person, and I would advise anyone who is thinking about increasing their levels of hormones, to consult their doctor first. |
