C12 was born in 1979 to Ivory. At the time of the birth, the matriline was still under the leadership of C4, and the family consisted of C4, Booker, C7, C1, and C12's older siblings Weynton and Lama. Shortly after the whale's birth, however, his/her uncle C1 passed away.
C12's grandmother too soon died, leaving the leadership of the matriline in his/her mother's hands...fins. For about 5 years, C12 travelled with mom, siblings, and great-uncle Booker. Then, in 1985, C12 gained another brother when Ivory gave birth to Hunter.
Shortly after his/her brother's birth, C12 disappeared, in 1986. He/she was declared dead soon after. The young whale was only 7 years old, and it's unknown what caused the death.
