| I haven't
found in English the word which describes correctly our
“6 sotok” (six hundreds). This is very small
ground site (stead, place) located in the suburb. The
size is 600 square’s meters (approximately equals
0,15 acre). Almost each Russian family has “6
sotok”. They got it free at soviet time, now the
possessing of “6 sotok” have set in law. Oohh...
"6 sotok”! For
Russian people this is a joy and a penal servitude at the
same time. The joy is because, for many people “6
sotok” is one and only place where they can spend
vacation. Main pleasure is to feel by the owner. There
may build the cottage in accordance with own desire and
create the small garden. The penal servitude is because
“6 sotok” is place where Russian people by hard
labor plant some berries, vegetables, fruits, to have
prepared a food's stock in order to eat for next long
winter.
Russian women make jam,
compotes, conserve tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, make
freeze and dry vegetables. Many people during all winter
eat only own vegetables. From April up September we need
to spend weekend on our "6 sotok". You see the
