For the more impressionable of you, be not afraid. I'm sure he's faking it. In any case his name is Cpl. George Todd. The Marine on the left is unknown. George was badly wounded on Operation Allenbrook. Golf company was supported by tanks on this op. A Sgt. Greene had just been killed firing a tank's 50 cal. machine gun. When Greene went down George took over firing the gun until he was wounded. I think he made the Marine Corps his career. |
Don Grathwell on the left and Lt. George Heatly on the right. Contact was made with Don early in 2001. He was very excited about coming to the reunion. But it was not to be. Shortly before the reunion he was diagnosed with lung cancer and died while we were in Arlington having our 2001 get together. However, George Heatly made it to Arlington. |
