Jerry would be killed by "friendly fire" September 9, 1969. A Cobra gunship had been called in and, for whatever reason (I think it was dark or getting dark) he hit us instead. There were a couple others hurt.
Just after the Golf War there was a show on "friendly fire." The consensus of the people talking about it was that the problem would get worse because: 1) Weapons are much more effective today 2) Many of them are shoot and forget making missing less likely 3) You just a very short time to make personally very important decisions. |
