George Weaver was with Golf company. Accourding to a company roster I have dated August 25, 1969 he was with Golf then and his rotation date was sometime in February 1970.
I don't remember him, and certainly don't remember any one carrying a sword. According to John Widrig he was married to a Vietnamese woman, which may be why he did 4 1/2 years in Vietnam.
April 14, 2001. Just heard from Rex Hoffmeister. He told me that Weaver did indeed carry a Samurai sword, and used it. Weaver was 2nd Platoon's platoon sargeant when Rex joined Golf. Rex stayed in for 30 years and got out a Sgt. Major. He now lives in Florida. |
