The two Marines facing the camera are Scott Rich in the rear and Phil Sevear in front.

Scott was from South Carolina and Phil from Indiana.

This was taken at 2/7's headquarters at Dia La pass.

Myself on the left and Mike on the right.

We met in Columbus, Ohio on December 2, 2000 for breakfast and a chance to talk.

An extremely pleasant morning.

Not sure who this is or where the picture was taken.  But I really like the picture of a Marine in lawn furniture reading a magazine that doesn't feature girls with staples in their bellies.

Comparing this picture to another one leads me to beleive that this is Dan Libby.

December 16, 2000.  Spoke to Dan Libby today.  He lives in Limington, Maine.  He now spends a lot of his time hunting, fishing, and trapping.  Sounded pretty happy with his life.

In the rear is Jim McMurtey from New York.  He was Mike's radio man on operation Meade River.

In front is Jim Melius from Upper Marlboro,Maryland.  He was the platoon radionman from November 68 until February 69.

According to McMurtey, Jim Melius now lives in New York and runs a gym.

In the back facing the camera is James McMurtrey.  In the middle looking down is Thomas "Pineapple" Root from Hawaii.  In the front is Robert Tuell.

On July 10, 1969 Root would loose both his legs in a booby trap.  He died of his wounds on July 27th.  There were three other men killed in that explosion and a couple more injured.

Joe Bonifas, who was in the general area at the time, told me that they heard three explosions.  Evidently Root, who was the squad leader, stopped his squad right in the middle of the trap and one of the men who was killed set it off.

On September 19, 1969 Cpl Robert Tuell was killed.

James McMurtrey was wounded by a booby-trap on September 15, 1969.
