This picture was taken by R. L. Del Vecchio who was combat photographer and it appeared in the "Sea Tiger."
Squattinging in the front is Zyg Haney. The first man in the line may be Frank Torres (Frank lives in Sparks, NV and put in 30 years with the police), the second man is Tom Ward (Tom would be badly wounded later), the man with the bayonet fixed is Jack Boone.
Sgt. Ben Greene, of 5th Tanks, had just been killed manning the .50 cal on the tank. A few minutes George Todd, of Golf company, would be wounded trying to cover these men as they advanced. |
