As I kneel in Your Holy presence I know that You watch over me. In the quiet I adore You and I feel Your love for me. Here alone adoring the spotless Host Divine...all of lifes troubles and sorrow seem to simply fade away. If I were the lowliest beggar in all of the earth, with You I am the child of a King. If I were the greatest sinner ever born...I know there is nothing You would not forgive. I need only to approach You with a willing and contrite heart. And if I were the wisest of creatures in all of the earth...I would know that You are wiser still. In the quiet as I kneel adoring I can feel Your heart speak to mine. In all of God's creation there is no greater joy than spending time with You. Like Mary the Magdala I know I choose the better part. O' Sacrament Most Holy, O' Sacrament Divine, in this bond of friendship...earth becomes more kind. I know that when I spend time with You, heaven and earth unite. And I leave You knowing that as I hold so am I held. I am held in love and in the palm of Your hand. Alone I can do nothing. Through You I can do all things according to You will. Saint Augustine proclaims the Eucharist as "O sacrament of devotion! O sign of unity! O bond of charity!" Those same sentiments are shared by many saints. The "sacrament of devotion." Godhead here in hiding, whom I do adore Masked by these bare shadows, shape and nothing more, See, Lord, at thy service low lies here a heart Lost, all lost in wonder at the God thou art. (Saint Thomas Aquinas, "Adoro te devote") |
