Dance Dance Revolution 5th MIX PlayStation Preview: Songs: Every song that was new to the arcade version of DDR 5th MIX is included, 39 songs in all. It is currently unknown how many more songs will be added, such as new songs exclusive for the PlayStation release as well as any trial songs from DDR MAX (hopefully, anyway!). Other possible songs to be included are 'Petit Love' by Smile.dk, 'True...' by Riyu from Be For U or the remix of 'AM-3P' featured in Extra MIX. It is also known that a remix of 'Dive', also by Be For U will be included. For a list of the currently confirmed songs, click here. Game modes: Little information detailing the game modes in 5th MIX has been released, although you can expect all the modes featured in Extra MIX plus a background collection mode like in 3rd MIX PSX, possibly paint mode and maybe even a few new modes. As with all DDR sequels, you can expect a host of new features and options to be added to all of the returning modes. Graphics: I am uncertain if the game is running at 60fps like the arcade incarnation, double that of the usual 30fps that all past DDR games have run at. Let's hope it is! All of the menus are from the arcade version and the overall presentation looks very futuristic. Extras: It is expected (and hoped by the many DDR fans) that konami will give us all a DDR game to remember and keep us playing untill the release of DDR MAX for PS2. Hopefully, the game will have a good number of secret songs and some very cool extra features. Data Bank Mode: This time around, DDR fans in Japan have been given the opportunity to send in their own step patterns which will be featured in the game. Expect some very weird, yep challenging creations. Apparently, over 260 sets of edit data will be included. Overall: DDR 5th MIX is looking as though it will be the grand master of all DDR games. It's got the options, it's got the looks...but has it got the songs? Only time will tell if konami have put in the effort to create some truly staggering PSX exclusive songs, or shoved in a few old songs from 4th MIX plus (The're on the official sondtrack for 5th MIX, afterall) Hopefully, this game will truly be worth every penny and get newbies and old-timers alike to sit up and start paying attention! |
