Photo taken by Rankin Studio in Corsicana, Texas, note at bottom reads 1900 to 1905. Charles Edward Davis and Sarah Annie Roberts and sons Alvah Newton and Mason Oliver Davis. There was a handwritten note at the bottom that read "C. E. Davis Annie Davis Son Alvah & Mason". Charles Edward Davis was born in Cass County, Illinois, the son of John Barton Davis and Christina Liming. His mother died when he was eight or nine years old, and his dad remarried a year or so later. He was named in Mr. Augustine's will. Mr. Augustine was an ancestor on his mother's side of the family. I believe this photo was taken just before they moved from the Purdon and Pursley area of Navarro County and moved to Throckmorton and then Baylor County by 1820. By then Cyrus Allen Davis their youngest son had been born.
