Jessamine Co, KY Court 20 Dec 1830

Copy of Court Record, Jessamine Co, KY, 20 Dec 1830.
Testimony given in the court by Thomas Davis, brother of Charles Davis, concerning the heirs of Charles Davis who had died on 1 Feb 1807 in Jessamine Co, KY. Both Thomas and Charles Davis were sons of James Conway Davis and Mary Elizabeth Carter of Spotsylvania County, Viginia who passed away in 1765. Charles Davis was wounded while serving in Virginia Continental Line and discharged due to his wounds. This copy of Thomas Davis testimony clears up an error made in transcribing the handwritten record submitted to Ancestry.com which has a listing of same record that was transcribed in error. It omitted James Davis as an heir and son of Charles Davis. This record not only show the correct date and year but does include James Davis as an heir and verifies that James Davis was Charles Davis' son. My thought on how this record relates to my research is that this did name one of their grandchildren and seems to indicate that in 1830 these were the heirs or descendants of Charles Davis and Hannah Gaines his widow. James Davis children are not named in this document but are assumed to be his descendants which is not in agreement with this document.

Only Polly White is mentioned as a grandchild in indirect wording in the document. My independent research shows Hickman Kearsey and Sally Kersey(Davis) were married in 1822 in Jessamine County and they had children prior to 1830. None of those grandchildren are listed in this document. Heartwell Heath and Polly Heath(Davis) were married prior to 1822 as Heartwell Heath was a witness to the Hannah Davis note granting permission for Sally Davis her daughter to marry Hickman Kersey in 1822. They also must have had children and they are not listed in this document as grandchildren. Also James Davis had children before 1830 and they were not named in this document. The primary reason Nancy White was included in this document is because her mother Elizabeth White(Davis) had probably died. She is the only grandchild mentioned.

This can be read in its original form but I transcribed it for ease of reading which follows the copy below.court document of heirs

I coudn't read every word and substituted (-) or (?) symbols for those I could not read or weren't otherwise convinced of. The words (widowed wife's) in the record is my guess, or heirs (of log and re)-latives, but do not really know, I just can't read those words or make sure assumptions about these two missing words.
