Jesse O Soapes and Family

Photo of Jesse O Soapes and family

Jesse O Soapes and Rebecca Featherstien are sitting in front on photo with Aunt Lizzie Soapes, on their right (viewer's left). The little girl standing beside her is Spencer Soapes' daughter. The two boys and young man in back are not identified by Jonnie but found identify from Bernadine Stader and Kay Wilson. On back of photo a note was written in pencil by my Great Grandmother Fannie May Cockerill, "This is the house I lived when daddy and I were married. Your mother." The house and land was in Glenrose, Texas. Jonnie (Jennings)Philley had written the note at the bottom of the photo indicating who some of them were. Bernadine Stader identified the young man on viewer's right in back as Thomas Jefferson Soapes her grandfather. The boy standing by the dog may be Spencer's son Jesse Soapes grandson of Jesse O Soapes. Jesse Soapes later married Bell but Bernadine didn't have her last name. The older boy behind Rebecca is not identified.
Fannie May Cockerilll married Eli Jennings Aug 10, 1898. Eli Jennings died Dec 15, 1939 and Fannie May (Cockerill)Jennings died Feb 21, 1963. Both are buried in Hamby Cem., Hamby, TX.
Mr. Bill Towles sent added information on this photo about identities included here. "If you don't have the IDs on the people here they are from L to R. The little girl is Nellie May, Elizabeth with Earl as a baby, Spencer is standing behind Eliz., then Jesse O. & Rebecca seated, behind Rebecca is Lem, next is Jesse and finally Tom. You might just want to add that to the web site on that photo." Mr. Bill Towles sent another description 17 Oct 2002 that is included here, "From Left to right: Little girl is Nellie May, my mother, woman sitting is Elizabeth A. (Hendrix), baby is Earl, man standing is Spencer Alexander , old man is Jesse Ortherinile, woman sitting is Rebecca (Featherston), boy behind is Lemuel, little boy is Jesse A. and tall guy is Thomas Jefferson Soapes. The dog shall remain unnamed. I thought you should know the names of these people in the picture. I was reading your description on your web site and thought this would edify you on this point."
