James B.
Davis and Elizabeth Hawkins were married on Dec 16 1806. John Hawkins listed as father of bride and bond by John Hawkins, in Jessamine
County, Kentucky. A bond was required because Elizabeth Hawkins was not of legal age to mary without parents consent in Dec 1806. Previously had though 1812 or 1813 was correct but Winney Davis, daughter of James B Davis and Elizabeth Hawkins was recently discovered by Carol Orwig and Randy Davis. Winney Davis was born in 1810, probably in Jessamine Co, KY. This discovery resolves the question about the correct date they were married and fixes it at Dec 1806. License granted on 15 Dec 1806 and preacher returned the signed record of ceremony on 16 Dec 1806 so it could have been either day. Do not have copy of that return or license, only microfilm copy of marriage list for them from Library of Kentucky in Frankfort KY. The record showing 1813 is from Ancestry.com and last name of David instead of Davis. David is a surname originating from Glamorgan England in Wales and probably is related to Morgan and Catherine David born in 1640 in Glamorgan, Wales, England. Marriage Bonds also show a 15 Dec 1806 marriage of James
Davis and Elizabeth Hawkins in Jessamine Co with John Hawkins granting
permission for Elizabeth Hawkins his daughter in marriage. This would be the correct date based on new evidence of their daughter Winney Davis born 1810.
