Jesus saves sinners
Genesis 2 verse 17 excerpt,
"....for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
Genesit 3 verse 22 excerpt, "....now lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life and live forever."
I thought that Gen 2:17, "....thou shalt surely die.", meant that Adam had eternal life.
In Genesis 1 verse 26 God created Adam and Eve and there was no mention of the tree of knowledge to this point but he tells them to be fruitful and multiply, replenish the earth and subdue it in Genesis 1 verse 28.
My question is does the contextual meaning of Genesis Chapters one to four say that Adam and Eve had eternal life up to the point where they sinned, or the promise of eternal life?
I can not see where the scripture says Adam and Eve specifically had eternal life but did have the promise of eternal life (Titus 1 verse 2) The tree of life was not off limits to them before they sinned.
Sharing a similar reappearance with the Ark of the Covenant the tree of life shows up again in the book of Revelations (2:7) with an intermediate appearance as the tree of the crucifixion nearly 2000 years ago. The tree of crucifixion was of eternal life returned to men thru Jesus and victory over death paid for by the blood of Christ at calvary.
This is where the tree of life is mentioned in the bible.
Ge 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Ge 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
Re 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Re 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Pr 3:18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
Pr 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
Eternal Life is mentioned in Titus 1.2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
Titus 1.2 is one of many verses that deal with eternal life in the bible.
