NAME: (both) Dr. TERESA KINKAID
AGE: (original) 35 (clone) 2
ALIASES: (both) Special K, Princess Premenstrual,
TKO, etc.
AFFILIATIONS: (original) Former representative
for Kelloggs
BACKGROUND: I'm a genius. No, really,
I am! I graduated from Harvard with my first degree at age twelve.
I am a an expert at Chess, President of the Michigan chapter of MENSA,
etc. Things were looking up, until I was diagnosed with NS.
Nevison's Syndrome is a debilitating
nerve disorder that gets progressively worse the older you get. First
your motor functions go, then you become a paraplegic, then your autonomic
system shuts down and you suffocate. Once you are diagnosed you are
lucky if you live ten years. I was diagnosed when I was ten, so you
could see why I was in such a rush to get my degree. I was going
to beat the disease, find a cure. Even if it killed me.
By the time I was fifteen
I thought I had found a cure, a drug treatment program using some stuff
I had whipped up. The problem was it would take the FDA four years
to approve it. By then the disease would have been too far gone.
And I'll admit it, by the time I whipped up this concoction I had to use
a walker to get around. I started taking the drugs secretly, and
I saw almost instant results. In a month's time I seemed fully cured.
But I wasn't.
My strength, stamina, speed,
and reflexes were all increasing beyond normal levels. I was also
getting tougher and my eyesight had improved. I had to confide in
a specialist, she told me that my latent gene had somehow activated.
I had not found a cure, I had simply made myself a paranormal. Then
I discovered my NS was still there, only it was held in check by my new
power's healing factor. Then came the final kicker; I wasn't getting
any older. I was stuck at age fifteen, a perpetual teenager.
I've had seventeen years
to cope. During that time I've starred in an all girl band (Broad
Minded, we had a sort've alternative retro fuzion type sound. I played
rhythm guitar and backing vocals), did the chess circuit, got the Kelloggs
endorsement, lost the Kelloggs endorsement.
Then I joined Maximum Justice.
Then they died.
I survived and became
a prisoner of war, while a clone of myself, identical in every way to myself
down to even it's memory took my place in the midst of the heroes who replaced
High Justice; The Vindicators. During the EDI I and Lazarus, the
only other Max. Justice survivor, managed to escape. I returned to Earth
to confront my clone. Only I discovered as much as I wanted to hate
and resent her for taking over my life I couldn't. For the first
time I found someone who understood me completely, and in hating her I
would be hating a part of myself.
Besides, she's so cool. :)
Aw,
that's so sweet! ;)
The
clone here, or Kinkaid ver. 2.0. I had no idea I was a clone 'til
the EDI (Extra Dimensional Invasion). I fought a force of nature
named Maul and he broke my spine, making me helpless. It was a good
thing, in the end, 'cause when the Tandians wanted to take over my body
and use me as a remot-control assassin. I also think that when the
original showed up full of piss and vinegar, spoiling for a fight, seeing
me helpless in bed made her feel sorry for me. So we sat down, talked
and even to this day I suppose I get bummed that I'm a copy, and TKI gets
a little put out that she's no longer unique.
But
we're sisters for good and ill.
PERSONALITY: For all her hardships, the Kinkaids
happy, well-balanced individuals who takes life as it comes. Even
though they look like a teenager they are very much adults when it comes
to responsibility; they are still doctors as well as heroes (and in the
clone's case, a movie star).
Both are highly annoyed with
their condition, one problem she is having is on a romantic/sexual level.
They cannot date fifteen year old boys without being charged with statutory
rape (and losing their medical licenses in the process), and the only adult
men they usually attract are perverts.
Teresa's surviving the Maximum
Justice slaughter had made her more withdrawn, but she has come to accept
that there was nothing she could have done to prevent the deaths of her
friends. Now she is eagerly looking for new adventures that she may
both partake on her own and share with her kick-ass clone!
POWERS/SKILLS: The Teresas have the ability to
quickly heal from any injury save one that would kill them outright.
The original has regenerated fingers, fully recovered from concussions
and even survived exposure to a class IV virus. The clone has also
survived exposure to a lethal venom delivered via the mail by Heavy Metal.
This power is what holds their Nevison's Syndrome in check; it still sits
in their cells, waiting for release. During those rare times when
they suffer broken bones their bodies quickly resets them, no matter how
much it hurts.
The Kinkaids are very strong
and have been classified a "brick" by Pure Power Plant scale (albeit at
the lower end of that scale), and they are resistant to damage; they are
able to withstand small arms fire without serious injury and can handle
temperature extremes from the artic to Death Valley. This gives them
a higher immunity to heat and cold attacks, but not much. Their reflexes
and agility both are abnormally high and they have been able to incorporate
their advantages into an eclectic and very effective fighting style that
makes the most of their speed and small size. They are able to leap
great heights and distances, over a hundred yards straight up and up to
a half a mile in distance. They are able to run up to thirty miles
per hour and swim at almost ten knots. They Kinkaids still need to
breath, but are able to hold their breath for up to ten minutes provided
they do not have to exert themselves.
The Kinkaids have excellent motor control and are able to use their strength
to create hand holds in most conventional building materials. This
is not something they can use in combat, however.
The Kinkaids are highly intelligent
and have a Doctorate in Genetics (the clone was given an honorary one from
Harvard. They are also talented chess players, decent singers and
can play a mean axe. They are also pretty good dancers and love to
go to teen clubs to let loose.
EQUIPMENT: Both Kinkaids carry an equipment belt
complete with a compact first aid kit with a portable medical scanner,
a tool knife, mini-binoculars, a gas mask and a small flashlight.
They also use other equipment when necessary. Most of this equipment is
commonly available.
The clone has come into acquisition
of a pair of mystic gauntlets (see picture right). The gauntlets
are incredibly resistant to damage and allow the clone to deliver more
powerful blows. The gauntlets remain in the posession of whomever
they are given to and cannot be returned. Also, the gauntlets change
form, reflecting the personality of the bearer (the owner before Kinkaid,
Ponyboy, used them as a giant warhammer).
APPEARANCE: Teresa appears to be an attractive
fifteen-year old girl with a wiry build and stringy black hair with large
black eyes. She stands five foot one inches tall and is sensitive
about her height. Her costume consists of heavy black leather boots
that incorporate knee guards, sleeveless black leather jump suit, fingerless
leather gloves and a black leather duster with gray lining. When
in civilian clothes she tries to dress like an adult, but often comes off
looking even more cute for her troubles. She does not need glasses
(her vision is now 20/10) but she wears them in a vain attempt to look
more dignified.
