Welcome to the CyberDictionary, which is an ongoing project to catalog all the cyberslang terms that you see online. If you've seen this before, your probably wonder where did this go & why is it returning? As NESpresso progressed & matured as a website, the site was completely redesigned at least 2 twice since 1999. Since the CyberDictionary was part of the site, it was (unfortunately) the last thing to be updated in the new format. Since the modification from 3.0 & 3.1 happened so quickly, it got backlogged. Now that NESpresso has settled back in with fairly regular updates, the CyberDictionary is finally getting rebuilt. The CyberDictionary's goal is to create a fairly comprehensive repository of all the cyberslang that's used online. I know that's a pretty big goal that's set, but the English dictionary (by Oxford & Webster) wasn't created in a year nor it has every single word that's used in the English language (albeit they have like 98-99% of all the possible words), so there's no better time than now to start. The CyberDictionary will NOT INCLUDE any "leetspeak" because normal users of the web don't use it. I will not post this because leetspeak uses all the other ASCII characters to replicate letters because they think it's "cool", when others just think it's annoying. Just click on the letter that the cyberslang term starts with to learn about it. If the term begins with a number (there are a few), there's a page at the end of the dictionary for them. Emoticons will not be included at this time because there's so many variations of them, including horizontal (old style) & vertical (new style) types. |
