  1. What does "NESpresso" mean? [top]
  2. The word "NESpresso" pretty much came to me one day while I was on a coffee break after destroying my old site. I pretty much fused together my love for Nintendo with my love of cappuchinos to come up with the site concept: NESpresso - Your quickest Nintendo fix. Please note that this site is NOT AFFLIATED NOR RELATED to the Nestle Corporation.

NESpresso's official name is now "NESpresso Multimedia Entertainment" or NME for short.

  3. What is NESpresso all about? [top]
  4. NESpresso originally started out as a Nintendo fan site, but in March, 2000 I changed gears a little bit to add the NSiders with it.

Now, NESpresso's just a personal site with a mix of games, ideas & other odd stuff that I come up with. I'm also using this site as a springboard to launch my commerical web skills. If you like what you see here, feel free to contact me & possibly work out a deal.

  5. How old is NESpresso? [top]
  6. NESpresso was created November 29, 1999. You can do the math from there or wait for the site to announce it by today's date (at the top of every page). As for site itself, it's now in its 3rd version.

Version 1.0 (Nov., 1999 to March, 2000) had little to no framework or templates. Everything was practically a mess.

Version 2.0 (March, 2000 to May, 2004) had a basic table framework. It didn't look as friendly or professional, but at least there was some familiar parts to the pages. The site was down during 2002 when I went to work for NSquad. Unfortunately, that site no longer exists.

Version 3.0 (May, 2004 to the present) is what you see now. Rounded corners, borderless framework, Duo-tone color scheme, CSS & Javascript additions really make the site look a lot better.

  7. Why do things look messed up around here? [top]
  8. Even though I tried to make sure everything look OK when I built the site. However, there's some things that I can't control, like your computer or your browser. If things don't look right on the site, please check that you have the following.

    1. You Screen Resolution is AT LEAST 800 x 600 -- If your screen resolution is any smaller than that will force you to side-scroll. That's something I've tried to prevent.
    2. Use the latest version your preferred browser -- This site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for special formatting & the older versions may not support them or yield unwelcomed results. If you really prefer to use an outdated browser, please have at least one of these versions.
      • Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher (recommended)
      • Netscape Navigator 6.x or higher
      • Firefox 1.0 or higher (article indentation doesn't show)
      • Opera 6 or higher
    3. Have Java & Javascript enabled -- Javascript is used on every page to generate the date on the top of every page. Some parts of the site will use Java & Javascript a lot more than some friendly notes. If you don't have them enabled, you may lock yourself out of some fun.

  9. Why can't I access certain things? [top]
  10. If you can't get to a part of the site, there's probably a reason behind it. Here's a few reasons for you to check.

    1. Your browser is outdated.
    2. You have Java and/or Javascript disabled (or not installed)
    3. You don't have the necessary plug-ins or programs to view them. -- I use the following plugins or programs on the site.
      1. Shockwave Flash
      2. Adobe Acrobat
      3. Microsoft Word (97/XP) OR Open Office (1.1.x or higher)
      4. Winamp or Realplayer
      5. Sun's Java Runtime Environment (1.4.2 or higher), if you don't have Java installed for your browser.
    4. You have a Pop-up Blocker on -- I will use some pop-up scripts (in javascript) on my sites, but they're mainly as link for images. Off-site links may use HTML code to pop-up a new browser window, which shouldn't get blocked.
    5. You're attempting to enter a restricted-access part of my site. Some parts of my site may require you to login (using cookies) or requires you to complete a challenge
    6. It doesn't exist anymore... the file may have been removed on purpose or by accident.
    7. You're trying to click on a non-existant link. Again, unclickable stuff in the NESpresso Bar is in white (links are yellow) & the unclickable stuff in the Menu Bar is in grey (links are normally white).
    8. I've accidently forgot to place the links on the page. -- This has happened at least once on the site.

  11. How do I get around here? [top]
  12. If you haven't figured out this, which is probably unstandable to some people, here's how to get around.

The extensive menu is usually on the left-hand size of the page, as you've probably seen on my main page. This menu isn't on all the pages because some links are a lot larger than the small menu column can provide. On the top of all the pages is the "NESpresso:/>" prompt, like the old DOS prompt. This is the "YOU ARE HERE" bar & contains the path that you've taken to reached that page. Everything in yellow has a link & therefore you can go backwards to the area. Things in white aren't clickable, which only at the end of the bar. You can click "NESpresso:/>" at any time to return to the main page of the site.

If you don't like it, then you don't have to visit my site. Better yet, feel free to e-mail me & complain about it. If I receive enough complains, I'll most likley change it to something more user-friendly.

  13. May I become an affiliate of your site? [top]
  14. Sorry for being selective here, but I won't list everybody who applies on here. However, if you really want to be an affiliate, you have to have at least one of the requirements here.

    1. A friend or mine online or IRL
    2. An NSider (old or new) in good standing
    3. A site (normally commercial) that provides my site a service

Once you've scored the requirements, there's a few rules to get your site on the list...

    1. You MUST have a running site. -- I don't want to see a "Coming Soon!" or similar pages because that just defeats the purpose of the affiliate program
    2. You must submit a button to me. Dimensions should be around 86 x 31 pixels, 10 KB or less in size & in a web-worthy format ( .jpg, .gif, or .png) -- I will NOT ACCEPT bitmaps (.bmp) format because non-windows systems have problems viewing them.
    3. Non-commercial sites must have my own button on their site.

I may periodically check my affiliates to ensure that you're complying with my rules... if they aren't simple enough. If you're moving, remodeling or taking down your site, please send a courtesy e-mail so I have an idea on what's going on. If the site that I'm linking to is down for a prolong time, I don't know what your site is doing & I'll have to remove your button to prevent others from yelling at me.

For the who wish to apply, send an e-mail to TStodden.geo@yahoo.com with the subject line "Affiliate Program Application" with your name (username is acceptable), Site's name, Site's Address & Address of your button. You may also attach your button to the e-mail to save some time.

If you need my button, you can pick up a copy at http://www.oocities.org/TStodden.geo/Affiliates/NESpresso_Button.jpg for it. You MUST take a copy to use on your site. Geocities doesn't allow remote image hosting & I'm not going to waste my Photobucket Bandwidth on it either. I will send a copy of my button upon request.

You are welcomed, however, to link to my site & I may throw you on my links page... if you care for that. Non-affiliated sites will have a link on my links page. Affiliated sites will get front page viewing and top billing on the links page. Due to the size of my front page, affiliated site buttons will be posted using a randomizer.

  15. Are you going to have a Bulletin Board? [top]
  16. I've had a bulletin board a few years ago, but due to lack of activity on the board, it was removed. Bulletin boards take a lot of time to set up, configure & maintain the board as well as the space to host the board & it's database, not to mention the bandwidth & server-side processing required to run it.

Once I move to a private server (one that supports PHP & MySQL), I may consider either picking up a BBS engine (like phpBB) or designing my own Bulletin Board as part of the community system that I'll design (Project Nightmare). Until then, I'll just promote my friend's bulletin boards unless I get requests for an interium board.

  17. Who do I have to talk to get anwsers here? [top]

For all questions, comments, complaints, ect. (No spam, viral-spam, hate mail, or chain mail please), please e-mail me at TStodden.geo@yahoo.com & I'll get back to you as soon as possible or whenever I feel like replying. Please note that due to TG-related business, it may take a while for me to reply as TG e-mails get my top attention.
