Camp Hyrule & Its Brief History
by TStodden, et. al.

Please note that the accounts of the NSider is a group effort to show us where the members have been in the past. If there's any missing or incorrect information, please e-mail me at TStodden.geo@yahoo.com with the subject "Camp Hyrule Ammendum" & I'll make sure that the changes are made to the accounts listed here. Please include your NSider name so I can give you credit here (unless you want to be included in the "et al" group). Since it will take a while for updates to be posted, please bear with me as it may take like a week before I upload the changes here. With that said, here's the Brief History of Camp Hyrule.

In addition, if anybody has managed to document any of the past Camp Hyrules, please include a link to your accounts & I'll be sure to add it here. I'll try to add my accounts as I recover my old files.

Camp Hyrule was created in 1994 by Nintendo of America as an end-of-the-summer online event! It's 120 hours (5 days) of camp hijinxs as each cabin tries to be the best! Even though it was popular, registration was restricted to the first 2000 users. It was an AOL exclusive through 1996.

In 1997, Camp Hyrule was available to everybody online & registration was even harder to through for those who decided to wait as the 2000 user limit was enforced. In 1999, Camp Hyrule was finally moved to it's own domain name (CampHyrule.com). Unfortunately, with the first year at their new address wasn't the best as one cabin had the hardest time getting logged into camp. These bugs were eventually worked out (due to the mass complaints from the campers).

In 2000, NOA decided to increase the registration limit to 2500 users & a new camp tradition is born: The end-of-camp ground trashing. The trashing of the campgrounds were usually some type of disaster (sometimes man-made). On Friday, the last day of camp activities, campers logged in to find the camp trashed by something.

In 2002, The registration limit was finally removed & users flooded the registration system. Roughly 6000 users were registered during the 3-day window. The rest is... well, history!

Camp Hyrule will be celebrating it's year this upcoming August. You can register for Camp Hyrule (NSider membership required... both are free) in late June. Check out CampHyrule.com for more information.
