Tigers fall to Grambling Juggernaut 43-3

    Grambling, LA - - At their Centennial Homecoming, Grambling State (7-0, 5-0) bested Texas Southern (3-5, 2-4) by a score of 43-3.

    Special team played accounted for the Tigers' first and last scoring as Travis Massey opened the scoring in the second quarter (14:53) with a 24 yd blocked punt return and D.J. Clay ended the scoring in the fourth quarter (0:23) with an 82 yd punt return. Texas Southern's only scoring came from a 34 yd FG by Vince Patrick at 11:37 of the second quarter.

    Offensively, TSU's Waymon Steed rushed for 162 yds on 11 carries (14.7 avg) and GSU's Bruce Eugene passed for 230 yds (21-12-0) and 2 TDs. The Tigers' Levi Washington caught 5 passes for 110 yds and 2 TDs. GSU's special teams gained 183 yds in returns (157 on punt, 26 on kicks).

    Defensively, GSU's Terrance Dukes had 11 tackles (6 solo) with 4 TFL (11), 1 sack (5) and 1 QB hurry. Texas Southern's Jamarr Isom had 10 tackles (3 solo) and 1 forced fumble.

    The Tigers return to action, 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 3 against Morris Brown in the Reliant Astrodome in Houston, TX.
