PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) _ Gregory Burks scored 27 points and Ray Lark added 15 as Prairie View beat Texas Southern on Saturday night 80-76.
Burks hit 13 of 14 free throws for Prairie View (6-14, 4-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference) and had five rebounds and four assists.
The Panthers jumped to a 36-28 halftime lead while hitting 50 percent from the field, then held off Texas Southern (4-13, 4-5). The Tigers only made 29 percent of their field goals in the first half, but improved to 52 percent after halftime.
Ra'Kim Holllis paced TSU with 19 points, and Akil Bulter added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Tigers return to action, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 5 against Prairie View A&M in the H&PE Arena.
