The French Equatorial Africa was formed in 1910, and consisted of Tchad, Gabon, Oubangui Chari and Middle Congo.

The four different colonies became independent republics within the French Community in 1958.

Middle Congo became the Congo Republic and Oubangui Chari was renamed Central African Republic.
