The Cape of Good Hope is a small, rocky peninsula jutting into the Atlantic Ocean near the southern tip of Africa in Cape Province of South Africa.   In 1795 it was captured by a British force but was returned to the Dutch by the Treaty of Amiens in 1803. In 1806 it again came under British control untill it became a province of South Africa in 1903.
