Adam and Eve

Our progenitors.

Besides obedience to Almighty God, what can we learn from them?

A lot!

Before they were actually formed in the image of God on the sixth day of creation to multiply, fill the earth, subdue it, and have dominion over every living thing that moves upon it (Genesis 1:26-28), they were but figments in the incredibly vast imagination of Maestro Yahweh!

Awesome; is not it?

Meditate: Are we to be swollen with pride by this fact, or shrunk with humility?

Now when Almighty God blew the breath of life into the nostrils of the man He formed from the dust of the ground to make him a living being (Genesis 2:2), He was thus bestowing upon him the gift of life. But later, when He commanded him not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (vv 16-17), He was in essence giving him a choice: Obey and live forever free from any doubt and anxiety, or disobey and die.

Note: While the gift of life in itself is FREE, the eternal one is SUBJECT to obedience.

The Lord placed Adam in the garden of Eden to care for it. When He decided to give him a helper that would fit his needs, He caused him to fall into a deep sleep, took one of his rib bones out, closed the place from whence He took it, then formed it into a being that looked like him turned inside-out! A woman. That is what Adam called her, as she was taken from inside a man (vv 21-23).

Think: If we who were created in the image of God are indeed animals as many people claim, does that mean that the Lord we are worshipping is an animal? Also, if the beasts that were formed to help Adam fit the criterion (vv 19-20), why did Almighty God create Eve?

Although Adam and Eve were living naked in the presence of the Lord, they were not ashamed of their physiognomy (v 25), until the crafty serpent beguiled them into believing that God is a liar, then consequentially, lured them into eating the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:1-6).

Tip: Much to the delight of the deceiver, Christianity is still relishing that delightful fruit!

Since Almighty God created Adam and Eve in His own image, expelling them from the garden of Eden to perish was an act of mercy on His behalf; For had they put forth their hand to eat from the Tree of Life also, we would be living forever in interminable torment, exactly like Satan.

Ponder: The wise words of king Solomon: "The day of death is better than the day of birth" (Ecclesiastes 7:1).

There is much more than meets the eye to be learned from the episode of Adam and Eve. If you are interested, the True Church of God will be here to nourish you.
