and as promised..a site with stuff for you [to read, to play, get into my head, etc.]
favorites:
-movies:
--LotR, both, so far..they rock! And ELVES ROCK MY WORLD..hehe-- again, another ob reference...umm but the casts of both movies have been really good. And the effects are amazing--as are all of the little details that go into EVERYTHING!
--Moulin Rouge, even though i only saw it twice..the soundtrack rocks my socks..haha--washington trip last year...singing moulin rouge songs on a washington street corner, while everyoneelse was telling me to shut up....good times (actually, i wasn't the only one singing...but it got old..)
--Gone in 60 Seconds..one of the few action (but not war) movies that i like...it was funny, and the cars were *shiny*...
--Saving Private Ryan..one of the best war movies i've ever seen-- it was so sad...but unfortunately, i can no longer stand it, at least watching it the entire way through, because for about a month, i was obsessed and watched it like everyweek
--The Matrix...see above (Saving Private Ryan) i think i've ruined a lotta movies that way...
--Braveheart..i remember that i actually thought it was about a bunch of wild rainforest men before i actually saw it-- i know, i know..but what was i supposed to think?-- blue war paint, and screaming savages...i didn't know any better...BUT NOW ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVES
--Shakespeare in Love...great movie, top 10..i think gwyneth paltrow is a good actress to begin with, and she just makes the movie even better...joeseph fiennes is cool too..but its based on Romeo and Juliet..how could you go wrong?..come to think of it-- there's a lotta ways...
--Elizabeth..again, Joeseph Fiennes..in tights and poofy shorts..nonetheless, a great movie. I realized while watching "gone in 60 seconds" that the guy that plays raymond callitri is actually lord norfolk! what??? what's going on??---again..my craziness
--10 things i hate about you..cheesy chick flick/indie film or whatever, but i can watch it over and over..in fact, i do when its on USA Network...i think Julia Stiles is pretty cool, and heath ain't bad either, haha
--dead poets' society--see, when i was gonna go to "the hill" that's what i thought it was gonna be minus the smoking and sneaking out...i thought it was gonna be cool and all new-englandy...BUT IT WASN'T...the movie rocks anyway. and ethan hawke looks REALLY young..
--Emma, the one with Jeremy Northam and Gwyneth Paltrow...Jane Austen's novel...and some weirdo made it into "clueless"--seriously think about it..clueless is a modern day emma, except for MUCH MUCH worse..
--Sense and Sensibility...the one with Hugh Grant-- he's cool in the movie..again, Jane austen, and the movie's pretty darn cool-- only problem: kate winslet: 1. she is a wimp and pines after some jerk who ditches her cause she doesn't have money. 2. on the cover of the dvd, you can definitely tell that her hair is a wig.
--mentioning kate winslet- TITANIC..i was freaking obsessed with this movie when it first came out when i was in fifth grade and rightfully so, it was a good movie...and if i don't watch it too much.. i think that i still like it.
--Pearl Harbor..i know that its sooo historically inaccurate..but its suchh a saddd movie...*tear* and the soundtrack is cool, so we can overlook that
--city of angels..definitely a sad movie-- i doubt if any guy has ever seen it...EVER. but i know that i really think its a good movie, cause it doesn't have anything else...nicholas cage isn't a particluarly handsome man..so its not like.."ohh he's so hot", rather, "the movie is so sad and sappy-- i think i like it.." haha
--you've got mail... i think that tom hanks and meg ryan make a good team..i loved this movie-- AND IT HAS BOOKS IN IT..which makes it so much better. but it wasn't cheesy or gross or anything, and totally platonic..which is something really nice, and sadly, rare...
--black hawk down..despite what everyone says, that it doesn't have character development-- IT WAS WAR, 24/7, they really didn't have time to develop the characters...
--dirty dozen..i don't ever get tired of this movie..its a classic
--the thin red line..i remeber seeing it in like 6th grade==> i loved it...my parents hated it..oh well, i still like it, but imagined a lotta things happene in the movie that didn't...but that's cause i read the book (which, by the way, is a great book..except for the profanity every 2 lines)
--dirty dancing...almost forgot--possibly the best film made in the 80's, just a personal opinion...footloose is almost as good...the theme song helps a lot..haha
--rebel w/o a cause...never really got the point..but james dean is just the coolest ever
--west point story...and NO it isn't the same as west side story...
--if you're still reading...you're cool..hehe, most ppl have probably stopped, and said to themselves, "the hell with this, the text is too small and the list is too long"--oh well..hehe, i like a lotta movies
-bands
--The Juliana Theory
--The All-American Rejects
--Evanescence
--Coldplay
-books
--The Fountainhead, Ayn Rand...this is an amazing book. I finished it a coulpla weeks ago..i thought it was worth the time (it took me about a week and a half to read)... an amazing novel-- talks about this man, and all the people who are out to crush is "ego"/spirit of individuality, and he sticks to his guns, and beats them all in the end.
--The Lord of the Rings, JRR Tolkein...this trilogy is awesome..but you might wanna read "The Hobbit" first, it fills you in on an lotta stuff. But when you get into LotR, its amazing that one man cam up with these worlds in his head. And after you're done..there's a whole range of books to read-- the Silmarillion, the lays of beleriand, the lost tales... and the history of middle earth books by his son, christopher
--Brave New World, Aldous Huxley...an interesting take on the future of mankind. Fairly easy read..and the names, etc. are ingenious. also fairly thin, for a quick read.
--Possession, AS Byatt.. good book-- just made into a movie...with Gwyneth Paltrow..and Jeremy Northam, woo=hoo, uhh yeah, the book is awesome..i really liked it-- recommended by bailey...it was worth the time
