Community Development - August 2000
From the desk of Tammy G., your CD Director filling in for Trish:
In your best singing voice: "First I was afraid I was petrified. Thinking how my life was going to end on the 4th of July , but with so many volunteers and a
lot of sweat and tears – we survived, yes we survived! Hey Hey!"
It seems like a distant memory already, but yes that is a HUMONGOUS THANK YOU to all of you Tuckahoes and others who came out and helped put
on a great event with 3 bands and a Fireworks show for Henrico County! Also, THANKS to those of you who got up at the crack o’ dawn to work the
Firecracker 5K – we had over 200 runners! You all know who you are – and we’ll take a little breather, but look for us to gear up for Independence Day
2001 in the coming months.
Now on to August –
Please contact Philip Perschetz to volunteer for our monthly Meals on Wheels run at lunchtime (11am-1pm). This is a great way to get out into the
community and a BONUS: Those of you who volunteer for the months of July and August will receive your own personal Meals on Wheels from your
Community Development VP, Trish Tyler!
We’re also gearing up for Election season, so anyone interested in events for this time, please see one of your CD team.
Another fun community event is Punt, Pass and Kick – a competition held on the local level that the kids who win go onto Regional and even State
levels! There’s a possibility of a Redskins game in for whoever chairs this project if our region’s kids go onto the highest competition level.
If you have any CD questions or suggestions, please contact your CD team for answers! We’ll see you at Summer Boards August 25-27!!
