We have now entered the third quarter. I can’t even believe it. We have some significant projects coming up including getting ready for the Haunted House. This project will take 150% effort by all members new and old, big and small. Your board had a 3-hour meeting last month and decided to take on the Haunted House full steam ahead. Look for a committee meeting nearest you. Contact Evan Fabricant, newly appointed Financial VP (he was promoted from Ways and Means director) for more details.
The Independence Day Celebration was an incredible one and a great leadership and learning experience. A HUGE thanks to Trish Delk, Tammy
Gemelos, Ann Lantz and Dan Pressler. These 4 were instrumental in preparing things for each part of the day. A stupendous thanks to having 50% of the chapter out and participating in some way shape or form. We had a record 5k race with 228 runners. For the first time ever we ran out of shirts from this year and last year.A rock on thanks to Marie Fleming, Kris Edelman, Tracy Hale, Stephanie Payne, Lisa Parrish, Kyle Jacocks, Todd Brown, and last but certainly not least Shirley Lucas for helping us out during the day.

Summer boards is around the corner. If you have never been to a state board meeting, this is the one to come to. We camp out at Camp Virginia Jaycee in tents, get some great training and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in the Virginia Jaycees. Talk to Annie or myself your State Director about coming with us the last weekend in August.
I also wanted to let you know CA Sparkes resigned from IDVP, Chris Smith has resigned from Chapter Management VP and Kim Mullooly due to school has resigned as Secretary. They were a great part of the Heart & Soul Board.
Thank you all to your service this year. If anyone is interested in stepping up now or next year please see myself or Kay Faries. Once again she will hed up the Elections Committee. She is putting together her team and will contact you if you are interested in serving on the 2001 board of directors. Being a part of the board of directors is a lot of fun and great learning experience.
He who has confidence in himself will lead the rest.
