Hey, my name is Valerie and I'm a sophomore here at Jonesboro High School. I come from a family of five in which I am the only girl and middle child. During the football season, my time is spent primarily on the field because I am a mangager. It can get really boring at times and frustrating because of the heat, but I enjoy doing it because football is my favorite sport. Whenever I get bored, I just go and watch some of the drills. My favorite team is the Indianapolis Colts if you can't tell by my colors. I spend most of my Monday nights and Sunday afternoons catching whichever game I think is worth watching on TV.
In the offseason, it's usually pretty easy to keep myself busy. Last year, for example, I managed wrestling. "Why do I manage so many sports instead of playing?" you may ask. Well, at my previous school, the only sport we had was basketball and I wasn't interested in playing that here so I got caught up in managing. I can't really escape it now because when I'm done with one sport, another coach asks me to manage their team. Who would've known managing was so needed? Anyway, wrestling wasn't really my thing because the matches were really long and took up my whole weekend so I decided not to do it again this year. Instead, I have been asked by Coach Corr to manage baseball. At first I wasn't really up to it but my dad convinced me that that was one more thing to put on my resume so I agreed.
For church, I attend CBC and help out with the childrens' ministry every Sunday and sometimes during the week if someone needs me. On Sunday mornings, I set up the snacks for snack time in between services. Every other weekend I work in the nursery with "crawlers". It's a lot of work but it's really fun!
For my spare time I try to hang out with my friends, boyfriend, and family. We usually have parties for Superbowls and stuff because people like coming over for our 9 x 11 ft. big screen TV. We have a whole archive of VHSs and DVDs so we usually have people over just to watch movies. When I get bored I work out on our weight machine because I figure it's a better use of my time than eating or watching TV. The only TV I really watch is Smallville. I'm kinda late on that show but I don't care. It's tight and I'm hooked.
