| B.O. Marks butcher and baker shop, Swan Reach, South Australia. A sand bag wall did not spare this shop during the River Murray flood of 1956. The building survived with just water-stained walls & warped floor boards. Many other buildings along the Main Street and low lying area's were nearly completely covered by water. Wind driven waves over the enormous expanse pounded the buildings for around three days straight, reducing most of them to rubble. |
