| Murray River Queen at the Goolwa wharf Nov 18, 2000. The Queen was built at Hindmarsh Island, Goolwa, South Australia, 1972/74. She is a diesel powered paddle vessel weighing 300 tons, 160' long x 26' wide. Her owners are the Murray River Queen Pty Ltd who operate her as a cruise vessel accommodating 72 passengers. She was floated July 27, 1972, and commissioned March 22, 1974. The ships home port is Goolwa, South Australia, located near the Murray mouth close to where she empties it water into the Southern Ocean. Goolwa has a long history of River Boat construction and had been a busy port from the 1880s to 1920. |
