Clothing Order Management....Contd... 3.0 Executing an Order In the relevant factory, before starting the mass production for the order, some pre-production procedures like stitching of pre-production samples are followed to ensure that all the technicalities of the style are learnt and understood. After receiving the style technical file, including the measurement chart and comments sheet from the Merchandiser, relevant patterns are made and using that samples are done in the factory. After getting the approval for the same, production markers are made. A request is then made for getting the fabric and trims from stores and it is cut according to the break down given in the Work order. Based on the Cut piece requirement the lay planning is done and accordingly fabric is laid. Based on this lay details bundle number stickers are generated. The fabric is cut and checked. In case of poor quality the components are re cut and sent to Fusing/Printing/Embroidery if needed. After this the bundled cut components are issued to line for sewing production. The sewn garment is trimmed and checked for quality and fit measurements and altered if necessary. These garments should be sent for washing if so specified in the order, after kaja and buttoning. The washed garments are checked for wash quality. The pieces are then ironed, packed and offered for inspection. Packing list should be prepared and sent to exports department for generating invoices at this stage. Buyer Quality Controller issues an approved QC sheet and the same is sent to the export department. All the functions discussed above during the Order Execution are depicted in the Flow diagram shown above. During this period of order execution, through relevant metrics both production and quality of the product produced are closely monitored and controlled. Generally DHU (Defects per Hundred Units of produced garments) is taken as a quality metric while the production per day as production metric and they are closely monitored on a periodic basis. |
