LOPEZ-OWNED Bayan Telecommunications (Bayantel) announced upgrades to its broadband services for corporate customers amid rumors of interest in Globe Telecom and the dominant carrier Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) to either buy out or buy into the carrier.

This upgrade will allow BayanTel to provide high-speed broadband services to customers in Makati City, Ortigas center, and Eastwood Park in Libis, Quezon City, according to Joevel Rivera, BayanTel vice president for product development. He indicated that the new network supports Metro Ethernet connectivity

The Bayantel executive stressed that this upgrade is in line with the company goal to develop services that would strengthen its position in the corporate data market.

This latest upgrade completes the carrier's metro-broadband optical fiber network in the key buildings of these central business districts, Rivera added. This network now covers over a dozen buildings in these districts.

As corporate demand for more bandwidth increases, BayanTel said it would
continue deploying additional infrastructure in buildings throughout the business districts within and outside Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, Rivera disclosed that Bayantel is also beginning to upgrade its optical network for residential customers.

Reaction:

Now that were on age of modern telecommunications using different services like broadband, DSL, wireless and so on. Telecommunications companies have there own plans in upgrading there resources to become more competitive. One of those companies is Bayantel.

Bayantel, upgrading its optical network in business district is quite good for their organization. Its about maximizing their customers and as the same time increases also the profit of Bayantel. In addition, it would strengthen its position in the corporate data market due to its developed services.
