Ludacris Biography.

Ludacris is a Southern rapper from Atlanta. Ludacris aka Chris Bridges musical career goes right back to his childhood. His parents were still at college when he was born, so Ludacris often found himself at house parties, soaking up the music at an age when most other children were teething. His parents used to take him to the college parties and let him dance in front of the other students to old school music like Cameo, Frankie Beverly and Maze.

His love for music stayed with him into his pre teen years. At twelve he joined a Chicago based Hip-Hop outfit called- “Loudmouth Hooligans”. Moving to Atlanta that same year made him rap harder and push himself to produce more songs. Throughout his stay at College Park’s Banneker High School, he started freestyle battling in the lunch room, often getting so involved that he forgot to eat. In the later years at high school he started to show up at talent shows and clubs trying to get discovered by a record company as he saw this as a way to making money.

He eventually landed a gig on Atlanta’s then new hip-hop radio station Hot 97.5 gaining a job producing the night show. Not straying from his roots Ludacris made his mark rapping on voice over promos. He wound up as being as recognisable as some of the DJ’s.

Eventually he saved up enough money to put out an album called INCOGNEGRO independently, on his Distributing Tha Peace Entertainment label. The album was a great success it sold 30,000 copies in the first three months. And in 2000 he released his debut single, “What’s Your Fantasy?” which went strait in at number one in the Hip Hop chart and was being played up to 500 times a week on some Southern radio stations. This success caught the eye of Def Jam South President, rapper Scarface. But Def Jam were not the only record label looking to sign Ludacris, Dr Dre was looking for another success after Eminem to add to his Aftermath Entertainment label and among others was Suge Night’s Tha Row Records or DR2K (The newly reformed Death Row Records- The label to which Tupac Shakur, Snoop Doggy Dogg and Dr Dre all belonged to). But after much thought he decided to go with the original offer from Scarface and sign for Def Jam South. Ludacris then launched his first album under Def Jam South; Back For The First Time. The album is a huge success it has gone strait into the Hip Hop chart at number one and took the UK RnB chart by storm as it went in at number 3.

The only hope that Ludacris has for the future is that he will have a successful record company.

Ludacris In An Interview With MTV.

How did you get the name Ludacris?
It’s somethin’ crazy I made up. Sometimes I’m cool, calm and other times I get beyond crazy. It’s like I gotta split personality. The name Ludacris has got my real name in it- Chris.

What’s the difference between Chris Lova Lova and Ludacris?
Chris lova Lova is the work every day, all about business, have fun but still be serious side. Ludacris is the free spirit; he does whatever, whenever.

How old are you?
Forever young.

What school did you attend?
I graduated from Banneker High School in College Park. I go to GA State University, I’m in their music program.

So are you a native ATLANTIAN?
No, I was born in Illinois and spent the early part of my life in Chicago… During high school I moved to the Atl with my pops because I felt that there were more musical opportunities for me here.

So as a teenager you wanted to pursue music?
Yea, I made my first song when I was nine. I went into the studio at twelve. My folks had me when they were at college and they would take me to parties when I was young so music was always around me. I guess you could say that I was in music before I could even speak.

Where do you see yourself going with this first album?
As far as the lord will take me. I put 100% into making this album, I’m talking mind body and soul. I had total creative control since I did it independently. Since when I was nine this is what I wanted to do. I’m ready to roll with the punches. I’m just glad that the album is finally out in the stores.
