1978

 A new new CAISTER BY PASS ( A149 ) was being built around CAISTER and at the new roundabouts were installed with 12M octagonal tapered metal posts with PHILIPS MA 60 lanterns ( 180W SOX BULBS , 2 part RT P42 photocells ) . Along the HIGH STREET The lanterns were THORN ALPHA 5 lanterns ( SLI/H BULBS , less gear , shallow bowls , 2 part RT P42 photocells ) on 10M metal posts and these posts were painted grey.

On the side roads there were a lot of side entry THORN BETA 6 lanterns ( two 2FT ( 600MM ) 40W FLUORESCENT tubes ) and they are on a 5M STANTON AND STANLEY concrete posts .

 THORN BETA 6 lantern is 618MM long , 191MM depth and the overall width is 171MM .

  1989

There is about 10 THORN ALPHA 5 lanterns ( 135W SOX BULBS , less gear , deep bowls , 2 part RT P42 photocells ) on 10M octagonal tapered metal posts along ORMESBY ROAD . All the other lanterns along ORMESBY ROAD , HIGH STREET were all new PHILIPS MA 50 lanterns ( 135W SOX bulbs , less gear , RT P42 photocells ) on the old 10M metal posts.

1990S

On the side roads most of the old side entry THORN BETA 6 lanterns ( two 2FT ( 600MM ) 40W FLUORESCENT tubes ) to side entry THORN BETA 5 lanterns (35W SOX BULBS , RT P42 photocells ) .

 YEAR 2000

There is still a lot of THORN BETA 6 lanterns left and some ELECO ? lanterns ( two 2FT ( 600MM ) 40W FLUORESCENT tubes ) along some roads.

Here is a list of some roads in CAISTER in 2000 with the list of FLUORESCENT lanterns and other old lanterns that I know of.

HIGH STREET ( Along this road next to a shop.This is on the 10 m lamp post with a Philips MA 50 lantern on top of the post.	One Atlas (THORN ) BETA 9 integral gear lantern ( without bowl ) and this is mounted at 5M on a 10M post.
NORWICH ROAD	Some top entry ELECO 35W SOX lanterns on some 5Mconcrete posts

WESTERN RISE ROAD YEAR 2000	A STANTON AND STAVELEY 5M concrete post with a ELECO lantern ( two 2FT ( 600MM ) 40W FLUORESCENT tubes ) . There is one ELECO lantern along this road and the rest of the lanterns are THORN BETA 5 lanterns ( 35W SOX bulbs , integral gear , 2 part RT P42 photocells ) .
