Finally Home!

After a grueling 10-hour flight, most of which it seems that I spent in the tiny bathroom, we're finally home.  Thankfully, Turkish Airlines is much more generous with the food portions and beverages, so I didn't starve or dehydrate on the way home.  We even managed to collect all of our luggage this time.  We had a speedy drive home, courtesy of our neighbor, Mehmet Bey, only to discover upon entering our house that the electricity had been off for a month and everything in our fridge/freezer was spoiled.  There was lots of meat in there, as well as fruit and vegetables that I had frozen.  The smell was ovewhelming (still is) and caused me to dry-heave for what seemed like an eternity.  I quickly dropped my bags and then went to Emine and Mehmet's house where I was greeted like family and then fed some good Turkish food.  At last!  While I was over at the neighbor's, Ekrem threw out the rotten stuff and cleaned out the freezer as best he could--bless his heart.  There's no way I could have done it.

It's amazing what some good food and a good rest can do for you.  I feel much better being in my own home, although the lack of air conditioning is a problem in this 90+ degree heat.  Ugh!  Must start shopping for air conditioning units this week if the heat keeps up.

Anyone know how to get that rotten meat smell out of the fridge?
