No News is Good News

Right?  I don't have much news to report, so I haven't been back to update.  I still love being pregnant, as strange as most people seem to think that is.  Sure I have some of the usual aches and pains, and my back has really been bothering me lately, but that doesn't diminish the specialness of nurturing new life.

Sari has become quite the guard dog.  She's still a frolicky puppy who loves to chase and attack the cat, but yesterday was a turning point for her.  Two little girls came over to ask Meg for help with their English homework and Sari ran to the door with a full-on guard-dog bark and growl.  The girls were so scared that they ran out of the yard, afraid that Sari would be able to get through the glass door to attack them.  We finally convinced her to calm down and while Meg went outside to help the girls, Sari sat at the door and watched them carefully, letting out an occasional deep-throated growl.  We were so proud of our big dog for being so responsible and watching out for her person!  We gave her all kinds of treats and lovins and she soaked it up, realizing that she had done something right.

In baby news, there's been lots of kicking going on.  At times he seems to think that my bladder is a nice soccer ball, other times my cervix is some kind of trampoline.  "Baby Hugs" continue and sometimes stop me dead in my tracks, but they're not unbearable--just practice for what's ahead.  I've spent quite a bit of time sewing up the fabric that I bought at the Sali Pazari a few weeks ago.  So far, I've made four polar fleece blankets edged with satin ribbon, four baby washcloths, and have cut out the fabric and hoods for four hoodie towels.  I need to find some bias tape before I can finish the towels, though.  I still have a couple of sewing patterns from when Meg was a baby and I will get those out one of these days and sew some little "sleep sacks" out of the leftover fleece.  I do have my Suzie Homemaker moments, don't I?
