Predictions

Apparently the latest craze is those little online prediction makers that give you a "forecast" for whatever event is upcoming in your life. Surprise, surprise--they even have them for childbirth! I recently did two of them, and here are the results. (Obviously I like the first one a bit better!)

Madame Zaritska's reading (http://sheknows.com/about/look/736.htm)Madame Zaritska, our resident clairvoyant, wants to help you prepare for the arrival of your child. Here she does her best to predict certain aspects of your labor and birth experience. What she senses for you
The day you deliver, outside will be breezy. Your baby will arrive in the evening.

After a labor lasting approximately 5 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and will be 18-1/2 inches long. This child will have light blue eyes and be almost bald.

Just Mommies (http://www.justmommies.com/quizzes/labor_prediction_quiz.php)

I know you were hoping we weren't going to say this, but don't expect this baby to come early. Your baby is nice and comfy tucked away in your womb and has no interest in joining the rest of the world. We predict your baby will be born after its due date. Your baby will most likely be born in the morning. Justmommies predicts that your baby will weigh approximately 7.2 pounds and that your labor will be about 11 hours long.

Next up for this blog is a poll about how *you* think this baby thing is going to play out!

Oh, my Lord, this is the first time I have heard this, ridiculous! How could anyone possibly predict the course and outcome of labour!

My prediction for you: absolutely painless and the shortest ever (5 minutes or so) labour, beautiful and healthy baby, whichever weight, sex, haircolour, etc. you prefer!:)

They're just for entertainment purposes, of course. But then your mind plays a huge part in how you experience childbirth, so maybe if I go into it believing Madame Z's predictions they'll come true. Who knows? LOL

You are right about the huge role of the mind it plays in childbirth and pregnancy! Both of my sons were born at home, and the only pain medication I got is my breathing in and out and keeping a positive outlook on things. My first baby was 10 days late, according to ultrasound, and the midwives had no choice but to send me to a hospital and start labour, unless I deliver. I knew they had to give up my care by the next day, and I didn't want to go to a hospital, so I talked myself into labour that night. I enjoyed my pregnancy so much, I wanted to prolong it a long as it was possible...

So don't you worry, everything will be fine! When the pain comes, just breath in and out, and just focus on that! You will always have breaks between contractions, so it won't be a continuous agony! God will help you trough it!

I think your labor will be shorter than you think, but longer than you want and that you will recover relatively quickly. You will have great contentment amidst the chaos of a new child, more than you thought you would. You will [as a person] grow in many ways as you would, and do, expect, but in at order of magnitude that you do not expect [and it will surprise you, in a good/positive way]. This is *not* a prediction, just my thoughts and perceptions. Y'know, "just for entertainment purposes, of course".

Besides-- you have a strong mind, a great attitude, and a loving family. What cannot be well met with all that going fior you???
