TURLEY POST OFFICES AND POSTMASTERS
and their locations

The first Post Office was established in Turley, Indian Territory on 13 January 1897. William F. Daum was the first Postmaster until 1906. The Post Office was housed in the "Daum’s General Store". Approximate location: 71st Street North and Victor>

The Post Office was then moved to it's second location at Main and Midland, (now known as6001 North Owasso). Postmaster was H. L. Buck.
He was the postmaster from 1906 to 1912
Below is a photo of the old H. L. Buck Store ... notice the small building on the North side of the Buck Store ... THAT was the Post Office.

In 1912, Mr. Buck sold his store to the Bussman Brothers, Homer and Pete. That was the name of the store "Bussman Brothers Grocery & Feed".
Homer Bussman became the 3rd postmaster until 1920.

In 1920, Brannon built a two-story building located at Main & Savoy, (now known as 1101 East 60th Street North). Upstairs was a rooming house. Down stairs was "Brannon General Store". The store housed the Post Office and also sold tickets to the Passenger Train that came through Turley. Brannon was the postmaster, 1920 to 1942.

A new post office was now in the planning. It was during World War Two. A temporary wood frame building was built on the lot behind the Brannon Store.
Roberta McCormick was postmaster for about one year, from 1942 to 1943

The new Post Office was finished on the East side of the Brannon Store, 1103 East 60th Street North. Elsie Britton was Postmaster from 1943 to 23 August 1957. Below is a photo of Elsie Britton standing in front of the new Post Office Building.
