Bay Laurel Finished Edge Bowl

 

This handsome bowl measures 11.5 inches in diameter by 3.5 inches high.  The color is a rich honey brown with striking swirl grain patterns.  The underside is detailed by 6 rows of ribbing not obvious in the picture.  The finish is a satin gloss tung oil, which has been hand buffed to a fine satin gloss.  The bowl would serve well as a show piece, fruit and nut bowl or salad bowl.  As with all of the pieces the finish is food safe.  The piece is signed by the artist.

Black Acacia Finished Edge Bowl

This handsome bowl measures 9.5 inches in diameter by 4.25 inches high. The wall thickness is 1/4 of an inch, which is enhanced by the 5/8 of an inch lip detail. The bowl was rough cut to 1 ¼ inches thick, dried for one year and then recut to the finished form. This is a beautiful deep reddish brown piece with a striking grain pattern, which unfortunately does not show well in the picture. The bowl would serve well as a show piece, fruit and nut bowl or small salad bowl. . The finish is a satin gloss tung oil, which has been hand buffed to a fine satin gloss. As with all of the pieces the finish is food safe. The piece is signed by the artist.

This handsome large bowl measures 14.5 inches in diameter by 7 inches high with wall thickness is 3/8 of an inch.    The grain pattern is distinctive with a small amount of sap wood showing on the rim.  The color is a rich walnut brown characteristic of the species.  The bowl was rough cut to 1 ¼  inches thick, dried for one year and then recut to the finished form.  This is a substantial piece, which would serve well as a show piece, fruit and nut bowl or salad bowl.  The finish is a satin gloss tung oil, which has been hand buffed to a fine satin gloss.  When used a a salad bowl the wood looses the satin gloss, but develops a rich patina. As with all of the pieces the finish is food safe.  The piece is signed by the artist.

This sophisticated finished edge bowl measures approximately 11 inches in diameter by 3.5 inches high with a wall thickness of ¼ of an inch. The wood is a light eggshell tan with dark growth rings forming a pin stripe pattern. In Magnolia wood there is no difference in color between the heart and sapwood so the grain pattern is consistent throughout the bowl. The finish is a satin gloss tung oil, which has been hand buffed to a fine satin gloss. The bowl would serve well as a show piece, fruit and nut bowl or salad bowl. As with all of the pieces, the finish is food safe. The piece is signed by the artist.
