ABOUT ME

I have owned dogs since I was a small child with my first experience of Border Collies coming on relatives farms.

I started going to training classes at the age of 11 years and have been doing so ever since.

My first Show Dog, at the age of 12 years, was a Cocker Spaniel; shortly after a second Cocker arrived which I showed with some success.

My interest in competitive obedience was growing and I worked Cockers, but by now, Border Collies were recognized with the Kennel Club and I wanted to become involved in the breed, hoping I could compete both in Breed and Obedience more successfully than with the Cockers, who were hard work to train.

I began to look at my relatives working dogs with "new eyes" and decided to Kennel Club register some of my Uncles dogs and begin breed showing them. My Uncle competed at Sheepdog Trials with the same dogs, sometimes they had been at a show with me and on the way home I would arrange a rendezvous with my Uncle, who would then take the dogs away to a sheepdog trial, perhaps the next day.

I decided to buy a Border Collie with show lines and purchased Muirend Border Mist from Mrs Nan Simpson.  Kate was a superb obedience worker and we up to Test "B" in obedience.  Kate was never shown in the breed ring as she was too big; I didn't breed from her either, as I was still at school and living at home.

In 1986 my Uncle gave me a gift of "Dell", who became Locheil Dell.

In April 1987 I married my long suffering husband, Ron, and in August of that year bought Lethans Jace from Mrs Janette Hastie.  In due course I mated Dell to Sh. Ch. Lethans Hopeful Flame and kept Locheil Latest Flame who won quire well in the show ring and also bred on.

Jace was mated to Sh. Ch.Viber Travelling Matt from Corinlea, this produced some exceptionally nice puppies, the one I kept went on to be the breeds first Full Champion Locheil Look North, "Nap", to his many friends and admirers. Naps litter sister, Locheil Lace Border, "Gem", won 1 Challenge Certificate and 4 Reserve Challenge Certificates.  Gem truly deserved her title, her movement being breathtaking, but, she played up every handler who ever tried with her!

This mating was repeated and produced Locheil Lady Gigha, who now lives with Karen Dalglish, and her sister Locheil Lady Shuna who had considerable success in the show ring winning a Reserve Challenge Certificate.  Around this time I also bought Draisha Peaches from Locheil, bred by Jo and John Howell.  Everything I have is descended from Chezy and the previously mentioned dogs.

I strive to breed dogs with a good temperament, correct confirmation, sound flowing movement and good working ability.

During January 2000 I passed the Breed Club judging examination held by the East Anglian Border Collie Club.  I also hold the Kennel Club Certificate for Rules and Regulations for Judging.  November 2002 saw me awarding Challenge Certificates for the first time at the Scottish Border Collie Club championship Show.
