More From Perhentian
This is the view we had from the small private boat we hired to take us to Pulau Rawa.  Off in the distance is Rawa Island....our destination.  It sat several miles (about 30 minutes by boat) across the open sea from Perhentian Island.  We spent a good portion of the morning at Rawa Island.
I never realized just how slow a 175 HP outboard motor was until the Malaysia Coastal Police showed us their impressive speed during our vain attempt to flee!  Evidently the boat driver we picked had a problem with paying the license fees for his boat.  For a few short moments I had visions of having to call Ed for bail money to get two of his daughters and his grandkids out of a Malaysian jail.
One evening we heard horrendous noises coming from the beach.  I went to check it out and discovered the weekly delivery of petroleum.  The boat backs in, dumps the barrels into the water, and the workers at the resort swim the barrels in to the shore.  If you look hard at this picture, you can see two men rolling another barrel up the beach.  We counted 35 barrels in this delivery.
One afternoon we all went for a climb on the boulders surrounding our hotel's cove.  Wendy had to keep a tight hold on Conner!
